DESTINATION || COMPONENTS OF DESTINATION || FEATURES OF DESTINATION

★ Destination :-

       Destination is a place or final point with some kind of attraction that can be natural attraction or cultural attraction and with minimum of tourist plants or tourism facilities.

* Features of Destination :

   > Destination is a place .

   > Destination is the final point where a tourist travel .

   > Attraction is the primary component of destination .

   > Combination of 3A's .

a). Attraction ~

       The first component of a destination is attraction it is considered as the primary component and the most important component of the destination, basically destination can be defined as the appeal/USP/TRP/uniqueness of any place which attract people to visit that place . Attraction can be of two types :

                     • Natural Attraction 

                     • Cultural Attraction 

• Natural Attraction -

       Natural attraction refers to all those attraction which are part of nature or gifted by nature. It include mountains, desert, lake, valley, waterfall, snowfall, Flora and fauna, etc.

• Cultural Attraction -

       Cultural attraction is also known as man-made attraction, it refer to all those attractions which are the part of culture . Some of the cultural attractions are art and architecture, fairs and festivals, dance and music, religion, monuments, etc.

b). Accessibility ~ 

       It is the second component of destination, accessibility simply mean to reach at any particular destination. So, it include all those medium which help in the movement of passengers as well as luggage from one place to another place. Accessibility is of three types :

                      • Surface Transport 

                      • Air Transport 

                      • Water Transport 

• Surface Transport -

       It is the first type of transport where surface is used for passenger and luggage movement. It is further divided into two types :

    

       ° Road Transport : It is the very old form of transportation which help in the movement of traveller from one place to another place. Basically, road transport help a tourist to travel to any tourist destination apart from this road transport can be used for transfer and sightseeing facility. Transfer can be define as an activity where a tourist is provided pick or drop facility from Airport, Railway Station, Bus stand to hotel and vice-verse. So, it can be Airport-Hotel-Airport, Railway station-Hotel-Railway station, Bus stand-Hotel-Bus stand. Road transport is also used for sightseeing purpose which may be of two types ~ one is full day sightseeing which consist of 200 km and 8 hours & other one is half day sightseeing which consist of 100 km and 4 hours.

       ° Rail Transport : It is the second type of surface transport where there are various trains which help in the movement of passengers. These trains are Passenger trains, Express trains, Superfast trains, Rajdhani express, Shatabdi express apart from this there are various tourist trains such as Palace on Wheel, Royal Rajasthan on wheel, Royal Orient, Maharaja Express and five Toy train at the hilly areas.

• Air Transport -

       It is the second type of transport where air crafts are used to move from one place to another place. It is the fastest mode of transport in India. There is public Airlines (Air India) and various private airlines such as Spice Jet, Indigo, etc.

• Water Transport -

       It is the third type of transport where boats, ships are used for the movement of passengers. The scope of water transport is very limited, in some recent years the concept of Cruise has been become very popular. Basically, Cruise can be defined as floating hotel where transport sector is coupled with entertainment sector and you define all the latest facilities such as different variety of food, swimming pool, dance, disco, indoor games, etc. in Cruise. Some of the famous Cruise are Star Cruise, Star Libra, Queen Elizabeth, etc. Some of the popular area of Cruise are Singapore, Thailand, Bombay to Goa, Calcutta to Andaman, etc.

c). Accommodation ~

       It is the third component of destination which basically provide the facility of food and staying and various other facilities to the tourist in return of some monetary value is known as Accommodation. Some of the facilities provided by accommodation units are food, stay, hot and cold water, AC non AC rooms, disco, bath, restaurant, indoor games, outdoor games, etc. Some of the examples are Hotel, Motel, Resort, P.G., Dharamshala, Guest House, Tent House, etc.
